HD: What's your name, sweetie?
Z: (quiet) (not real excited about talking to strangers, generally)
Me: His name is Zander.
HD: Zander, do you have any pets?
Z: (moving head like crazy) Yes! A puppy!!!
HD: A puppy?! How neat! What is your puppy's name?
Z: Fiona.
HD: Oh, what a pretty name! Fiona like from Shrek?
Z: (confused blinking; if it's not a character from Star Wars or Cars, he probably doesn't know it)
Me: No, Fiona like from Shameless.
HD: (distracted as she cuts hair) Oh, okay. (Moment of silence followed by startled eye contact.)
Me: Not that he's ever seen Shameless! His dad and I named her!

ReplyDeleteHilarious! Well-- at the teacher conference Dan & I learned that Henry informed his teacher - out of the blue-- That Dan sleeps naked. Yep. That was cool ;)
ReplyDeleteNikki has random moments of wisdom. We're not sure where they come from but they are always interesting. The other day as I was getting her out of the van she looked at me and said: "Mommy, when I have a baby come out of my tummy, will you be a grandma?" Yeah...pretty dang insightful for a 4 year old! lol
