Dear So and So

Dear So and So...

I liked last week's experience enough to repeat it! Here we go!

Dear Neighbor Kid,

Please do not stand at the gate line of our property and stare in through our windows. It is creepy and I don't like it. While we're at it, perhaps you and your friends could stop throwing things at our vehicles as we have repeatedly asked you to do? The neighbor relationship between your house and ours is already tenuous enough; let's not add to it, m'kay?

Pretty sure I'm not living in a fishbowl regardless of what you might think,

The Mean Neighborhood Mom

Dear Hobby Lobby,

Thank you, thank you, thank you for shipping overseas to APO/FPO addresses! I wish I had known before now that you do so! We are moving soon so it doesn't help us much, but the families over here can use all the alternate shopping options they can get.

Sincerely meaning that you rock,

Amanda

-------

Dear children who live in my house,

I love you all. You are the stars in my night sky. But I swear that if you don't quit fighting I am going to duct tape you all to the ceiling. Seriously.

Smooches,

Momma

-------

Dear Spring,

Where are you?! I know last year I said that I really wish you would go away so that my dear husband's allergies would calm down but I did not mean for you to be gone for so long! I would now really like for the children to be able to play outside for hours at a time. Please come back. I will never take you for granted again. (Until sometime in May.)

Quietly calculating the amount of duct tape I need,

Amanda

  1. good stuff! I wish I could get in on that APO/FPO thing. I miss that. Internatioanl shipping is ridiculous.

As far as spring...it can't come soon enough.

  2. I am so glad that most places ship to APO and FPO. The only problem I have lately with those addresses is for things like iTunes and Google and financial institutions...do they not understand that some Americans don't TECHNICALLY live in the US?

  3. I'm amazed at the difference in companies shipping to APO/FPO addresses over the past few years. There are still a lot of places that give you trouble (Target, sadly, is still difficult) but there are so many more than there were in 2003.

I get sooo irritated with the places that state something is for "U.S. Residents Only" and won't allow Americans stationed overseas to participate. Florida still considers us a state resident; how are we not residents?! Grrr!

  5. Reading the first letter reminded me of a time I was 14 and babysitting a neighbor's children at nite. After they'd gone to bed I came out in to the living room, only to see a grown man standing outside the big picture window peering in at me. It scared me senseless until I realized it was "Punk", a mentally challenged man who lived across the street and was harmless as a kitten. Even so, it was pretty creepy! Thanks so much for stopping by and leaving such a nice comment! I have a niece who's married to a military man and they've lived in Germany for several years. I believe it's in either April or May they'll be heading back for 'home'.

  6. Neighbor kid is very interesting. This is just the latest in a long stream of fun stuff.

Miss Kris, your niece will be heading back about the time that we find out where we're going. It's been a great experience and we're so thankful to have been given the chance to live here--but we are ready to go home! Wherever that might be. lol

  7. What a great idea! Duct tape to the ceiling - I'll bet if I pull that one out of my bag of tricks, it'll stop 'em in their tracks!

  8. Hobby Lobby just started selling stuff online a couple of months ago. I was so excited...even though we have 2 just down the street. When I'm stuck in timbuktu, I can still get stuff! Yippee!

  9. Terri, that's what I thought too but I found information on the web that indicates they have offered shipping to APO/FPO addresses since 2008. I couldn't believe it. I've been "virtual shopping" for the past three days. We're trying so hard to not bring anything else into the house before the move but I WANNA ORDER SOMETHING SO BAD!!! lol
