Dear Potential Buyer Group #1,
Why do you contact me to say that you are interested in something and then NEVER respond again? WTH? That makes absolutely no sense to me whatsoever. How impulsive are you people, really?
Wondering what you are like in an actual store,

Dear Potential Buyer Group #2,
For those who do e-mail back saying, "Great! So glad this is still available! I really want it! When can I get it?!"...Why do you not follow up? I seriously don't get it. And there are so many of you! It's amazing. I'm sure there are some valid reasons out there and I know you don't owe me anything...but I can't help but wonder just due to the sheer percentage of people who do it.
No longer giving a "grace period" for each "interested" buyer,

Dear Potential Buyer Group #3,
For those who actually do arrange a time and then don't show up...WTF?! How rude are you? Is it so difficult to send a short e-mail and say, "Hey! I changed my mind/something came up/I decided that your item sucks ass and I don't want it."? How are you going to make an appointment and then just not show up? You suck, my friends. A lot.
Wanting you to know that my time is precious too,
Frustrated Seller
P.S. Probably not a good idea to call and throw a fit about us selling an item to someone else after you've no showed the night prior. Really?! If you tell us you'll be there one night to look at the item and you don't show up, we are completely in the right to move on to the next interested party. Get over yourself.

Dear Buyers,
For those who e-mail, make an appointment, and actually show up...you guys rock. Seriously. You have no idea how rare you are. Thank you for being interested, following up, and following through. This moving gig will be easier with each and every item that you help me get out of my house.
Gratefully yours,
Relieved Seller

This whole post is so true that its sad.. It takes a while to post an item It makes me not even want to take the time to do it. Im sorry your having problems but it truly is nice to know that im not the only one this happens to.
ReplyDeleteSounds like you are having a hell of a time. I am behind on blog reading, did you get an assignment yet? Is this why you are selling your stuff?
ReplyDeleteI have stuff at my house that has just been sitting on my back porch for this very reason. Every time I try to sell something it becomes waiting around to see if people will actually show up. So frustrating....
ReplyDeleteThe worst thing is the sales you miss out on because you are waiting around for someone who isn't going to show up. It really irks me. It got to the point that we no longer make arrangements for pick ups through e-mail. We've dedicated one of our cell phones to the process and the only pick up arrangements we make is over that phone. That way we have the person's phone number AND they have to talk to a real, live person. So far it has been a little more successful.
ReplyDeleteWe haven't gotten the assignment yet but we know it's coming. Since we're due to return to the states we know the assignment will drop this cycle. All the selling is just trying to bring the household junk level down to a reasonable level before we leave. ;)
ReplyDeleteOh, do I have a couple of stories for you. Just wait till tomorrow. lol
ReplyDeleteWhat a crazy pain! This is not something I look forward to ever doing.
ReplyDeleteI should do some selling to just bring my household junk to a reasonable level just so we can stay here! LOL
ReplyDeleteAmanda, my recent fave was the guy who (I thought) didn't show up at the meeting point, then sent me a plaintive e-mail accusing ME of not showing up...even though I had sent him my description and he sent me nothing to indicate who to look for. So we rescheduled. He didn't show up. Yeah. Good times.
ReplyDeleteYeah, I keep asking myself if it's even worth it. It would be easier to just chuck it all. lol
